Zombie Hoard Slot Review
This game has 5 reels and only 9 paylines. Released in March 2019, you can play this game at online casinos such as Royal Panda, Twin Casino or Spinit.
Theme and basic information
With Zombie Hoard we get a cartoonish zombie theme. Usually, there are hordes of zombies roaming around for brains. Here the horde has become a hoard, but whether you’ll be hoarding treasures remains to be seen in this oddly amusing and whimsical slot.
The graphics are neat. The cityscape in the background looks deserted, the gruesome zombies a little more on the funky side rather than the creepy or scary side.
The zombie hands on the side of the reels clap whenever we win, which is amusing as well. The soundtrack is also surprisingly whimsical and by no means scary.
The wild symbol in this game is worth 133.33x for five on a payline. The scatter brain is worth 100x for five on the reels. Two brains already pay out 1x your stake. The chef zombie is worth 55.55x your stake in such a winning combination. The nurse zombie still pays out 44.44x your stake, whilst the cop zombie still pays out 27.77x your stake.
There’s also a waitress zombie and the playing card symbols from 10 to A.
The coin values are very strange in this game and you can play it from 0.90 to 45.00, making it a game for the budget conscious.

Collecting brains in the base game
In the base game you won’t do much besides spinning away the reels. When you start playing, you get 5 free spins added to your counter, a little brain in the upper right-hand corner. Whilst spinning away the reels during the base game, further brains can be added to the counter. They’ll be randomly attached to the other symbols on the reels.
You can collect up to 30 free spins here. When you collect that many, the free spins are automatically triggered. As a matter of fact, it won’t take you more than 150 spins to collect that many brains and often you’ll trigger the free spins via the scatters. Scatters, by the way, pay anywhere on the reels as long as you get two of them at least.
And during the base game, stacked wilds appear on reels 3 and 4, though they usually don’t make wins more likely.
Stacked wilds in the free spins
Free spins, as already mentioned, are either triggered when you get at least three scatters on the reels, or when you have collected 30 of them in the base game. Should you trigger them with the scatters, you will get the number of free spins already collected (usually at least 10) and the coin wins associated with the number of scatters on the reels.
During the free spins, stacked wilds appear on all reels and all wins are now multiplied by 2x. And that’s about it. Wins can be pretty good here and the free spins are triggered at least every 100 spins, but the game is very simple beyond that and a lot less exciting that a zombie-themed slot ought to be.

Conclusion: A simple game that can be a complete hit or miss
The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) of Zombie Hoard is 95.29%, which is actually appallingly low value. That’s well below the average for most slots and means this game is poor investment, if you don’t play carefully.
If you like simple games, sure give Zombie Hoard a try. It’s quirky and for a while it can be entertaining. But unless you manage to win big, you’ll be sorely disappointed by this game. It can suck your wallet dry and big wins are not guaranteed, despite the potential of winning 2,388x your stake. And whilst we had a decent run when playing this game, we still don’t know whether we’d recommend it.
