Wings of Riches Slot Review
Released in December 2019, this game can be played at online casinos such as Twin Casino, Unibet or Rizk.
Theme and general information
Slots with flowers, butterflies and fairies are surprisingly popular. They are often colourful, somewhat dainty, light in gameplay and low in potential. There is clearly a market for that sort of game and Wings of Riches joins in the fray.
The scene is set in the tall thickets of grass and undergrowth, looking at the world from the perspective of the bugs and fairies on the reels. It’s lush and green. It’s also pretty without necessarily wowing us. The slot is well crafted but nothing special. We don’t even really get much of a soundtrack. The reels are whooshing as we spin them, a light jingle plays on a win and insects buzz around here and there. That’s it.
The flowers make up the low value symbols on the reels. A ladybug and two other bugs make up the medium value symbols, which are worth between 5x and 7.5x our stake for a win of five on a payline. And then we get four fairies in purple, green, yellow and red. They are worth 25x, 35x, 60x and 75x our stake for five on a payline, respectively.
You can play this game from 0.20 to a staggering 400.00 per spin.
Spreading wilds in the base game
At first, you’ll start spinning the reels and get a few smaller wins and wonder what else there might be. Then the occasional wild appears on reels 2, 3 or 4. And whenever that happens, the wilds will spread to adjacent positions randomly, adding 2 to 4 more wilds.
That’s nice and usually yields a winning combination. It’s also all there is to the base game. It happens often enough to keep you going, but the novelty of it (even though spreading wilds are not a novel idea) will soon wane.
Free spins with multipliers
Three dragonfly scatters will trigger 10 free spins. Now, a multiplier flower appears on the right-hand side of the reels and a multiplier scatter can land on the fifth reel, letting the multiplier climb from 2x to 5x whenever it lands. It won’t go higher than 5x, but once that’s reached it will remain active for however many spins you have left.
Additionally, two more scatters will give you 5 more spins and another three scatters would add 10 more free spins. With a 5x multiplier and a 5-of-a-kind win of the red fairy, a top prize of 375x our stake is possible here.
Verdict: A pretty slot that doesn’t add anything new to the fold
The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) of Wings of Riches is 96.63%, which is well above average and very good indeed. This slot comes with medium volatility and reasonable wins for five fairies on a payline. But the overall potential is quite low and nothing that excites seasoned slot players. Of course, with slots such as this one, you have a much more realistic chance to score 350x or more your stake than you have scoring 1,000x your bet with much more volatile or high potential slots.
So, if you are looking for easy gameplay, a light atmosphere and relatively frequent wins, Wings of Riches might just be for you. Eventually, though, it may get a little boring as there is nothing much that captures interest.
