Legendary Excalibur Slot Review
Released in December 2019, this game can be played at online casinos such as PlayOjo, Guts or LeoVegas.
Theme and general information
There are plenty of slots out there that feature King Arthur and his Round Table Knights. We also get plenty of Merlin-themed slots, his famed sorcerer, wizard or magician. Whichever you prefer. Even the legendary sword Excalibur is featured here and there and also name-giving in this particular slot.
The setting is difficult to categorise. We could be in a garden or forest, standing inside a fairly open stone structure. We can see the arches and pillars as well as stone pavement. There’s a big block of stone in the middle, which could be where Excalibur resides.
Light filters through the foliage and whilst there isn’t much to it, it’s pleasant to look at. The soundtrack is a little cheesy and trumpets sound on every win.
On the reels, we find fairly generic 10 to A playing card symbols as well as high-value symbols showing a rose and arrow, a goblet, a helmet and Arthur himself as the highest paying symbols.
Arthur is worth 50x our stake for 5 of a kind. The goblet pays 20x our stake for such a win. Helmet and rose are worth 12x and 8x our stake for 5 on a payline, respectively.
You can play this game from 0.20 to 200.00 per spin.
Expanded wilds and re-spins
The game is quite light on features. We don’t get a scatter, but we do get wild symbols. The most important wild is the expanded 1×3 Excalibur wild. There are also standard 1×1 wilds. The Excalibur wild is responsible for the main feature.
Whenever it lands fully on any of the reels, the Excalibur wild gets locked into place and we get a free re-spin during which the standard wild can land on all reels. Should three of them land stacked on a reel, we will get another re-spin and more wilds can land on the reels.
Often, big wins are possible here. Wilds on all reels would pay out the maximum win of 500x our stake.
Conclusion: A fun little slot with surprising wins
The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) of Legendary Excalibur is 95.80%, which is below average. But with this medium volatility slot wins are still quite frequent, albeit on the smaller side. Honestly, whilst we played this slot, we rarely felt that the return is not so great. Instead, we found the game surprisingly entertaining.
And the wins could be just as surprising. Landing one expanded Excalibur wild followed by various wilds in a re-spin, you could easily win 80x your stake. Since the game pays both ways, it’s also not impossible to get various 5-of-a-kind wins here and there, where especially Arthur himself can be lucrative.
During our best sessions, we won a little over 180x our stake after landing two expanded Excalibur wilds. Sure, this is a fairly simple slot and the gameplay isn’t overly exciting. The theoretical RTP can play out to your disadvantage if you are unlucky. But the game can also bring in some nice wins and if you’re just looking to pass your time a little, Legendary Excalibur will do.
